Landline Digital Switchover Help
Ready for the landline switch-off, without the worry.
The UK's old copper phone network is being switched off, with the switchover due to finish by 31 January 2027. Home phones then work through your broadband router instead of the wall socket. For many people it's just a case of plugging the phone into the router, but older handsets, personal alarms and power cuts can catch people out. We check everything, set it up and make sure the phone still works when it matters most.

Landline Switchover: common questions
The old copper phone network is due to finish switching off by 31 January 2027, and providers are moving customers in stages before then. Your provider should write to you before your line is moved.
Usually not. Most phones keep working once they're plugged into the router or a digital phone adapter. Some older or unusual handsets need replacing, which we check on the visit.
Not on its own. A digital landline needs power for the router, so without a battery backup it won't work in a power cut. Keep a charged mobile phone as a backup, and ask your provider about a battery backup unit, especially if you rely on your landline.
Tell both the alarm provider and the phone provider that the alarm uses the landline, so they can make sure it's compatible before the line is moved. After the switchover we can test that the alarm still connects.
Digital landlines run over a broadband connection, but providers offer options for people who only want a phone line. Ask your provider, and we can help you choose and set it up.
